1.) Frozen Yogurt has just begun.

As we mentioned, Frozen Yogurt is on the rise in terms of popularity, but when did it all start? People have been eating regular yogurt for over 4,000 years. Frozen Yogurt however was first introduced in the early 1970s. Americans were happy to have a low-fat alternative to ice cream. In fact Frozen Yogurt has become so popular that it even has its own month. Since 1993, June has become National Frozen Yogurt month. Froyo even has its own day dedicate to it on February 6th of each year.

2.) Frozen Yogurt is uniquely made.

Froyo is made in with milk but there is more to it than that. It is created by adding “good” bacteria to milk. These bacteria convert the milk sugar into lactic acid. This process creates the well-known tangy flavor of frozen yogurt.  But it’s not just cow’s milk. The milk of sheep, goats, and even buffalo are sometimes used in the frozen yogurt process here in the US. Camel’s milk is also sometimes used in the Middle East.

3.) Froyo has many benefits.

Frozen Yogurt can be a healthy treat and has many benefits. Those benefits include boosting your immune system, preventing yeast infections, lowering serum cholesterol, and also being a great source of protein, calcium, potassium and vitamin B12.

4.) Froyo Meets Technology

You know Frozen Yogurt has become popular when Google is involved. In 2010 Google’s Android release was codenamed “Froyo”.  Frozen Yogurt proudly sits next to other codenames such as Marshmallow and Kit-Kat among others.

5.) Dry Frozen Yogurt?

Yes, you heard that right. It shouldn’t be a surprise that frozen yogurt was originally made from real yogurt.  But these days it can also be purchased from powder form as well which is then mixed with water or other liquids and poured into a soft serve machine that you might find at your local frozen yogurt shop or restaurant.
